Why the title of the Blogspace?

For those of you who already know me, you will recognise from where the title comes.

You will know that it is Martin Luther King Jr.

MLK in his 1963 publication Strength to Love, wrote "The hope of a secure and livable world lies with disciplined nonconformists who are dedicated to justice, peace and brotherhood".

Along with agreeing with him that 'There comes a time when silence is betrayal', the disciplined nonconformist idea is one that particularly appeals.

Do not fear however that this will simply be ramblings from my philosophical perspective.

The other reason for this blog is to chronicle what exactly I am doing in life at the moment.

The plot so far...

The Disciplined non-Conformist realises that he has some abilities that perhaps he isn't using. This in combination with a rising level of frustration with various aspects of his professional life, causes him to embark more seriously on the quest for an English Department to run.

He subscribes to www.teachers.on.net and the nice people there tell him about a job at a particular school of which he was aware already, having previously taught in the area.

Not expecting any real result to occur, he writes an application and sends it off. Now, it's not that the application wasn't serious, far from it. The truth is that the Disciplined Non-Conformist didn't expect that the people making the choice would consider him. Against all probable hope in his mind a few things then occur.

He is interviewed over the phone.

His referees are contacted.

Sight unseen and over the phone, he is offered the job. (This is all moving spectacularly quickly now...)

The Disciplined Non-Conformist and Mrs Non-Conformist go to the town of the new job to look around and meet with the people offering the job.

The Disciplined Non-Conformist says, "Yes" to the job and then the logistics begin of shifting house from SE Q'ld to the Western districts of Victoria.

It's mostly about this and my family that I intend to blog.

So, dear Reader, there's the rationale. In good Educators' practice I have completed the orientation phase.

Read on in future to see the extended synthesis... and you dear Reader will of course make your own evaluation.
